LONDON — Joan Rivers will open this year’s Sheffield Doc/Fest with the U.K. preem of docu “Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work” on Nov. 3.
Pic, helmed by Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg (“The End of America,” “The Devil Came on Horseback”), will see the filmmakers and Rivers in attendance at the 17th edition of the fest.
Docu, filmed over the course of a year (some parts were shot in Blighty), exposes the private life and dramas of the comedienne as she fights to remain the queen of comedy. It exposes the toxic mixture of self-doubt and anger that often fuels it.
The docu will broadcast on Nov. 9 on More4, one of British network Channel 4’s digital web channels.
This year’s Sheffield Doc/Fest will take place from Nov. 3-7, marking the last time the fest will run in the fall after it announced it will move to June from 2011 onwards.
