ITV Studios sets up French arm

Florentiny to head Paris arm of British company

ITV Studios has sealed an overall deal with producer Jamie Roberts and his Escalate Television shingle.

The L.A.-based Escalate will develop and produce unscripted fare, and create new formats, with ITV Studios.

According to ITV Studios the deal reps its strategy “to continue its rapid growth in producing homegrown as well as international formats.”

Roberts launched Escalate last January. Since then, he’s developed formats for NBC, GSN, BET and Fox Reality.

Deal was announced by ITV Studios prexy/CEO Paul Buccieri, who called Roberts “among the best and brightest producers in the international content business.”

Before launching Escalate, Roberts served as senior VP/head of programming at GSN. Before that, he served as head of production and development at Sky Networks’ U.S. operations.

Roberts spent ten years at British Sky Broadcasting, serving in posts including director of programming at Sky One. He started his career as a producer on Channel 4’s “The Big Breakfast” in the U.K.
