IFC Films has snagged U.S. rights to “Heartbreaker,” the French pic that had its Stateside preem Monday at City of Lights, City of Angels fest in L.A. and will be seen at the Tribeca Film Fest on Thursday.
Pic will be released through IFC in theaters, which makes indie films available on-demand simultaneously with the launch of a theatrical run.
Romantic comedy, toplined by Vanessa Paradis and Romain Duris, centers on a professional “couples-splitter” (Duris) hired to break up an engaged couple. Helmed by Pascal Chaumeil and penned by Laurent Zeitoun, Jeremy Doner and Yoann Gromb, pic has proven a B.O. success in Gaul.
“Heartbreakers” was produced by Nicolas Duval Adassovsky, Yann Zenou and Zeitoun. Deal for U.S. rights was negotiated by Arianna Bocco and Lizzie Nastro for IFC Films and Gregoire Melin of Kinology.
Release plan for “Heartbreaker” is still being worked out.
