FilmSharks snaps up pic package

It nabs world sales right on Alta Vista and Patagonik films

FilmSharks Intl., a leading sales company in Latin America, has picked up worldwide sales rights for the catalogs of Mexico’s Alta Vista Films and Argentina’s Patagonik Film Group, two of the region’s biggest producers.

Deal includes all rights for more than 40 titles including Altavista’s “Amores perros” and “Nicotina” and Disney-backed Patagonik’s “The Son of the Bride” and “Nine Queens.”

Guido Rud, who runs FilmSharks out of Buenos Aires, said he will focus sales on new media, TV and VOD.

FilmSharks’ big catalog deals are part of a new strategy for the company that built its name dealing with individual titles including “A Boyfriend for My Wife,” “American Venus” and “Letters to Father Jacob.”
