PARIS — Gallic arthouse shingle Les Films du Losange has made a raft of sales across Europe on Romain Goupil’s dramedy “Hands Up.”
Following up on a Cannes market screening attended by 400 kids, “Hands Up” was nabbed by Italy’s Teodora Films Distribution, Belgium’s Les Films de L’Elysee, Switzerland’s Frenetic Films and Sweden’s Folkets Bio.
Les Films du Losange will handled the pic’s June 9 French bow.
Produced by Les Films du Losange’s Margaret Menegoz (“The White Ribbon”), pic is a friendship tale centering on a Chechen woman who reminisces about her youth and school years in Paris.
Agathe Valentin, the head of sales at Les Films du Losange, said she’s in negotiations with buyers from Spain and Canada.
Meanwhile, the Paris-based outfit has sold Otar Iosseliani’s drama “Chantrapas” to Portugal’s Atalanta Filmes and is in negotiations with buyers from Japan, Argentina and Spain.
Pic follows an artist who flees an oppressive government in Georgia to come to live in Paris, hoping for a better life.
