Channel 4 licenses ‘The Event’

Series to launch in U.K. in October

LONDON — U.K. hybrid pubcaster Channel 4 has acquired U.S. drama series “The Event” from NBC Universal International Television Distribution.

Skein will bow in Blighty in October, just weeks following its U.S. debut on NBC.

The conspiracy thriller follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter), an everyman who investigates the disappearance of his fiancée, Leila (Sarah Roemer), and unwittingly exposes a huge political cover-up.

Head of Channel 4, Julian Bellamy, said “The Event” “was the stand out show” at the recent L.A. Screenings.

He added: “Ambitious, clever, fast-paced and gripping – the series is the perfect addition to Channel 4’s slate of quality U.S. series.”
