Jarvis to leave U.K. broadcaster in July
BBC Worldwide topper Colin Jarvis, a pioneer of Blighty formats, is retiring as director of international formats in July.
In 2000 Jarvis inked Worldwide’s first deal with a U.S. network, NBC, for “Weakest Link,” which is now licensed in 77 territories), and was also part of the team that persuaded ABC to commission “Dancing With the Stars,” which now exists in more than 30 local versions.
During a BBC career lasting almost 40 years, Jarvis also worked on “The Office” (adapted in the U.S., Canada, France, Israel, Chile and Russia) and “Yes, Minister” (adapted in India, Turkey, Netherlands).
Jarvis was also instrumental in building Worldwide production outside the U.K., with bases and partnerships in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Oz, India and Europe.
