Japanese subscribers to pay $16.58 a month

TOKYO — Warner Entertainment Japan will launch a DVD service on the Actvila video portal site on July 1, the company has announced.

The service, Warner Films, will offer 30 titles monthly, including Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” in July, Clint Eastwood’s WW2 epic “Letters from Iwo Jima” in August and Edward Zwick’s set-in-Japan period actioner “The Last Samurai” in September.

Subscribers will pay a monthly fee of $16.58 (1,470 yen).

Actvila is partnering with Warner division Warner Bros. Television to provide the service, the first of its type for Warner in Japan.
