BAFTA names Orange Rising Star nominees

Kristen Stewart, Carey Mulligan among rivals

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts unveiled nominees for its Orange Rising Star Award Tuesday.

U.S. thesps Kristen Stewart (“New Moon”) and Jesse Eisenberg (“Zombieland,” “Solitary Man”) are up against the U.K.’s Nicholas Hoult (“A Single Man”) and Carey Mulligan, who won a National Board of Review prize for “An Education,” as well as French newbie Tahar Rahim, who won a European Film Award for “A Prophet.”

The award, which recognizes up-and-coming talent, is the only BAFTA kudo to be voted for by the public. The winner will be announced at the Orange British Academy Film Award ceremony on Feb. 21.
