Some Thoughts on the New-Look LA Times

First, full disclosure: I spent seven years working for the Times, so I have strong opinions — and some insider knowledge — about how the paper used to function. Nor is it my knee-jerk desire to criticize anything new, although it's hard not to wince at the draconian cuts that have occurred not just there but throughout the newspaper industry.


(The Times' PR dept., by the way, remains the gift that keeps on giving, actually misspelling "Los Angeles" in the announcement of Hofmeister's promotion. Then again, this is kind of the City of Angles.)
