Fox's 'Kitchen' top-rated primetime show

Though Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” was the top-rated primetime program Tuesday among adults 18-49, NBC won the night on the strength of “America’s Got Talent,” according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen.

New reality series “Shaq Vs.” with NBA star Shaquille O’Neal improved 21% in the demo compared to its “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” leadin while settling for a virtual tie for third in its 9 p.m. timeslot.

The two-hour “America’s Got Talent” (3.0 rating/9 share in 18-49, 11.6 million viewers overall) edged CBS’ “Big Brother 11″ (2.9/8, 8.1 million) in the demo at 9 p.m, followed by “Shaq Vs.” (1.7/5, 4.3 million), Fox’s “More to Love” (1.7/5, 4.0 million) and the CW’s “90210″ (0.3/1, 0.8 million).

“Shaq Vs.” gained viewers in its second halfhour, and became ABC’s most-watched summer program in its timeslot since Aug. 5, 2008.

At 10 p.m., “America’s Got Talent” trounced the Eye’s rerun of “Medium” (1.1/3, 4.1 million) and ABC’s “Primetime: The Outsiders” (1.3/4, 3.5 million).

“Hell’s Kitchen” (3.4 rating/11 share in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall) easily won at 8 p.m. in 18-49, ahead of repeats of NCIS (1.8/6, 9.5 million) on CBS and “America’s Got Talent” (1.5/5, 6.2 million) on NBC. The firstrun “Millionaire” (1.4/5, 6.3 million) finished fourth in the demo at 8 p.m.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC 2.5/8, Fox 2.3/7, CBS 1.9/6, Univision 1.5/5, ABC 1.5/4, CW 0.4/1.

In total viewers: NBC 9.8 million, CBS 7.2 million, Fox 5.5 million, ABC 4.7 million, Univision 3.7 million, CW 1.0 million.
