MSNBC pundit puts end to rumor

According to an insider, MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews announced Wednesday that he will not be seeking political office in 2010.

Matthews, who made the statement during a staff meeting put an end to widely circulated rumor that he’d make a run for the Pennsylvania Senate seat currently held by Republican Arlen Specter.

It had been suggested that Matthews was encouraging the scuttlebutt in an attempt to gain leverage in his upcoming contract negotiations with the NBC news cabler.
