HBO execs say “Entourage” is more about friendship than Hollywood. And with the cabler’s skein entering its sixth season, Thursday’s launch party at Par felt like a gathering of old friends.
“At its core, this show is about taking your best friends and living a fantasy life,” said creator Doug Ellin. “We try to be realistic, but there are always pretty girls in the background.”
While the party drew an unrealistic number of pretty girls who were very much in the foreground, programming prexy Michael Lombardo noted the show’s strong viewer draw.
“It’s got its pulse on a zeitgeist that both people in and out of show business are addicted to,” he said.
“It’s fun to watch guys who value friendship,” said HBO entertainment prexy Sue Naegle. “They don’t let growing up get in the way of their fun.”
