Al Hayat TV takes 'Fear Factor Extreme'
Global entertainment giant Endemol has launched Endemol Brasil, a fully owned regional production operation in Brazil, and secured its first series commission in Egypt as it beefs up activities in the Middle East.
Endemol Brasil will produce entertainment programming for the local market, drawing from its library of content. It is headed by managing director Daniela Busoli, who was in charge of Action Media, Endemol’s local TV operation. Endemol Brasil will now take over all of Action Media’s activities.
Endemol Globo, the group’s 50/50 joint venture with Brazilian broadcaster TV Globo, will continue to produce entertainment programming exclusively for TV Globo, while Endemol Brasil will serve the rest of the Brazilian market.
“Endemol has already proven that there is a big appetite for its formats in Brazil, and there is huge potential for us to build on that,” Busoli said.
Numerous Endemol shows are already hits in Brazil, including “Big Brother” (now in its ninth season) and “Danca dos famosos” (Dancing With the Stars).
Meanwhile, Endemol Middle East, which bowed in 2007, has sold 13 episodes of “Fear Factor Extreme” to Al Hayat TV in Egypt.
Show is scheduled to go into production next month and will bow in primetime this year.
In addition, “Ton of Cash” has been recommissioned for a second run on Abu Dhabi TV.
The formats join other Endemol fare being broadcast in the region.
These include talent skein “The Manager” and chart show “Top 20” for Rotana Music, entertainment series “Male Female” for MBC and “no-talent” show “Top of the Flops” for Abu Dhabi TV.
Upcoming are Middle Eastern versions of extreme reality show “Wipeout,” due to bow on MBC this year, and gameshow “Ba Ba Boom,” slated for a March debut on Future TV.
