Condon to direct ‘C Word’ pilot

Showtime series stars Laura Linney

Bill Condon has been tapped to helm the pilot for the Showtime series “The C Word,” starring Laura Linney.

Linney earned a supporting actress Oscar nom for her role in Condon’s 2004 biopic “Kinsey.”

“C Word,” from Original Film and Sony Pictures TV, revolves around a suburban wife and mother who is diagnosed with cancer. The half-hour pilot was penned by Darlene Hunt and is exec produced by Hunt, Neal H. Moritz and Vivian Cannon.

Condon most recently produced this year’s Oscarcast, along with Laurence Mark, who was his collaborator on 2006’s “Dreamgirls.”
