Host to resume work on Monday after set accident
Conan O’Brien is expected to return to the “Tonight Show” desk Monday, after an injury forced him to halt Friday’s show.
According to NBC, O’Brien hit his head while performing a stunt. The episode wasn’t finished, as the host was taken to the hospital. A repeat aired instead,
“Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice,” O’Brien quipped in a statement.
Last spring, Jay Leno missed an episode of the “Tonight Show” due to an undisclosed ailment; the cancellation was chalked up at the time to fatigue. Also, David Letterman has canceled shows or brought in guests hosts at times during his lengthy run at CBS.
On Saturday, NBC released another statement, adding that “Conan is resting comfortably at home. He is expected to return to work on Monday.”
