Comedy Central pacts with Levity

Network, management co. sign multiplatform deal

Comedy Central has signed a multiplatform output deal with Levity Entertainment Group, the management company behind some of the channel’s biggest standup acts.

Deal calls for the production of a dozen standup specials for Comedy Central, with six of them coming from comedians Christopher Titus, Gabriel Iglesias, Pablo Francisco, Jim Breuer, Mitch Fatel and Pete Correale, all of which will run on the channel this year. Another six specs will be shot this year and run in 2010.

Included in that latter round will be one from Jeff Dunham, who’s “Very Special Christmas Special” drew Comedy Central’s biggest aud ever last year with 6.6 million viewers. Separately, Dunham signed his own pact with the net recently that includes a series, specials, a DVD release and touring.

Deal with Levity mandates that at least eight of these specials will also be released on DVD.
