'Big Brother,' '60 Minutes' stand out on slow night

On an anemic night of broadcast viewing, ABC and CBS tied Sunday as the Eye’s latest edition of “Big Brother” lodged the evening’s best rating. “60 Minutes,” as often happens, drew the most viewers.

While “Big Brother” (1.9 rating/6 share in the 18-49 demo) was best, it wasn’t even good enough to reach a 2.0 on a night when many viewers are tuning in to cable, including HBO’s buzzed about drama “True Blood.”

A two-hour “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (1.5/4, 5.2m) was tops for ABC, which also aired repeats of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (1.3/8, 5.2m) and “Desperate Housewives” (0.8/2, 2.4m).

Movies “The Storm” on NBC (1.1/3, 4.8m) and “Zoom” on Fox (1.0/3, 2.8m) had little impact.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 1.3/4; CBS, 1.3/4; NBC, 1.1/4; Fox, 0.9/3; Univision, 0.5/2; CW, 0.2/1.

In total viewers: CBS, 6.1 million; NBC, 4.8 million; ABC, 4.5 million; Fox, 2.4 million; Univision, 1.3 million; CW, 749,000.
