Lawrence P. 'Skip' Carrington Jr. was bureau chief

Lawrence P. “Skip” Carrington Jr., longtime TV Guide magazine editor and bureau chief, died May 3, in Santa Monica of complications from liver disease. He was 63.

A Northwestern U. theater graduate, Carrington began his career with the Play of the Month Guild in New York, then joined TV Guide’s New York bureau and was later named Hollywood bureau editor in 1976.

Among his accomplishments was a nomination for outstanding TV journalist by the Publicists Guild of America. He was also a judge for the movie and miniseries division of the CableAce Awards.

Following his retirement, Carrington worked briefly for the Reprise Broadways Concert organization. During the Vietnam War, Carrington served in the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Group in Washington, D.C.

He is survived by his wife, Susie, a former TV Guide writer and editor.
