Production manager got start on Broadway

Production manager Tony Neely died May 19 of liver cancer in Castaic, Calif. He was 66.

Neely began his professional career as a stagehand for Off Broadway productions and went on to work as stage manager for Broadway musicals “Two Gentleman of Verona” and “Raisin.”

He then moved to Los Angeles, where he became a production manager for Disney/ABC, coordinating the press and arrival areas for the Academy Awards for 22 years and managing production activities for sitcoms, gameshows, soap operas, pilots, and special events such as the 1984 Olympics.

His credits also include the daytime and primetime Emmy awards and the NAACP image awards.

He is survived by his wife Elena, two daughters and a son.
