Network renews Dr. Drew for third season

“Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew” is coming back for a third season on VH1 in early 2010, with Tom Sizemore and Heidi Fleiss among the coming edition’s would-be rescuees.

Eight episodes will air during the third season of “Rehab,” covering the 21-day intensive program led by Dr. Drew Pinsky. The second season, which wrapped up in December, averaged 1.3 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49.

Other scheduled participants in the third season include Mackenzie Phillips, former NBA star Dennis Rodman, country singer Mindi McCready, Lisa D’Amato (“America’s Next Top Model”), Alice in Chains musician Mike Starr, Joey Kovar (“Real World: Hollywood”) and Playboy alum Kari Ann Peniche.

Pinsky and Howard Lapides are joined as executive producers on “Rehab” by Damian Sullivan and Bruce Toms for Irwin Entertainment, Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes and Noah Pollack for VH1, and John Irwin.
