Turner Broadcasting communications chief Shirley Powell is leaving the network at the start of the new year.
“Turner is a great company, and I leave with only respect and gratitude,” Powell said in an email. “I have had a job since I was 16 years old — including through all four years of college — and I couldn’t be more excited to take a bit of a break and see what life has in store for me.
Hired in 2003 as senior VP of corporate communications, Powell directed publicity for all Turner networks, advertising departments, community relations and internal communications.
Previously, she spent time at Disney and NBC.
The communications team will report to executive VP Kelly Regal during the transition, and Turner “will give careful consideration to the structure of the communications organization and announce any changes when and as appropriate.”
