The Mouse launched Disney XD last week with the intent of improving the moribund performance of the incumbent Toon Disney channel.
At least early on, the cable channel has met that objective.
The debut of XD’s flagship show, “Aaron Stone,” garnered 1.6 million viewers Friday and surpassed all previous Toon Disney series launches in the key kids 6-14 demo.
The one-hour premiere of “Stone” drew 303,000 kids 6-14 and 232,000 viewers in the channel’s core demo of boys 6-14.
For its entire launch day, XD drew 6.5 million total viewers.
