Spike TV greenlights ‘Players’

'Citizens' star Matt Walsh behind comedy

Spike TV has greenlit half-hour comedy “Players” from former “Upright Citizens Brigade” regular Matt Walsh.

Walsh, who created the show and will exec produce, will also star as a fun-loving dude who owns a sports bar with his uptight brother (played by Ian Roberts).

The guy-oriented MTV Networks cabler has ordered 10 episodes of the series, which goes into production in Los Angeles this month and is set for a summer premiere.

Skein is produced by Principato Young Entertainment Prods. Walsh, Roberts, Jay Martel, Peter Principato, Paul Young, Tucker Voorhees and John Lynch round out the exec producer ranks.
