Helped network start original programming

Showtime has reupped Gary Levine, one of the architects of the pay cabler’s recent original series success under entertainment prexy Robert Greenblatt.

Levine, exec veep of original programming, is understood to have inked a multiyear contract with the CBS-owned cabler.

During his eight-year tenure to date, Levine is credited with supervising the development of series including “Dexter,” “Weeds,” “Californication,” “The L Word” and “United States of Tara.”

Prior to joining Showtime, Levine served stints as head of drama for ABC and as development topper for Warner Bros. TV.
