Richard Abate departs Endeavor

Jennifer Rudolph Walsh onboard at new WME

The shuffle among WMA and Endeavor tenpercenters continued Tuesday with the news that Richard Abate, head of Endeavor’s lit unit in Gotham, is ankling.

Abate is well-regarded in the book biz, but as WMA and Endeavor meld their operations and weed out redundancies, there’s no doubt that WMA brings a stronger and larger publishing wing, headed by Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, who is on the board of the newly minted WME Entertainment.

Abate joined Endeavor in early 2007 from ICM. His move sparked a fierce legal skirmish between ICM and Endeavor after ICM sought a restraining order to block Abate from setting up shop at Endeavor. The fight even included the unusual spectacle of a court hearing that featured sometimes heated testimony from Abate’s former bosses at ICM.

Endeavor declined comment on Abate’s departure late Tuesday.
