Matt Olmstead, Nick Santora to pen drama project

“Prison Break” alums Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora are back in biz at Fox with “Break Out Kings,” a drama project revolving around ex-fugitives who are recruited to work as U.S. marshals.

Network has given the 20th Century Fox TV project a script order with a hefty penalty attached if it doesn’t go to pilot. Olmstead and Santora penned the pilot. Gavin Hood, helmer of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” is attached to direct and exec produce.

Project is described as a procedural based in Gotham, but the team will move around the country as it works on specific cases.

Olmstead was the showrunner and exec producer of “Prison Break” for its four-season run on Fox. Santora was a co-exec producer on the show.

Prior to “Prison Break,” Olmstead worked on “NYPD Blue” and co-created the short-lived ABC drama “Blind Justice.” Santora created the WB reality skein “Beauty and the Geek,” and he penned the 2007 novel “Slip and Fall.”

Olmstead, Santora and Hood are repped by WME.
