Panavision CEO steps down

William M. Campbell exits venerable camera co.

For the second time this year, Panavision is changing CEOs.

Prexy-CEO William M. “Billy” Campbell has ankled the venerable camera equipment company. Campbell was named in early April.

His replacement is 63-year-old William C. Bevins, who has most recently been a member of the board of M&F Worldwide, the holding company owned by Ronald Perelman, the billionaire who also owns Panavision.

Bevins’ resume includes stints as chief financial officer of Turner Entertainment and as president-CEO of Andrews Group, an entertainment holding company. He was also a director of Andrews Group and two of its subsidiaries, New World Communications Group and Marvel Entertainment Group, in the 1990s.

Bevins will be based in Panavision’s Woodland Hillsoffice. He has already met with senior staff at the company.

Campbell, a former prexy of Discovery Networks, will become a consultant with McAndrews and Forbes, another of Perelman’s companies.

Like most Hollywood-based production supply firms, Panavision has been hurt by the current production slump and has slashed costs.
