Odenkirk, Provissiero team for laff factory
Talent manager Naomi Odenkirk has joined forces with lit manager Marc Provissiero, opening a comedy-centric rep firm.Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment officially launched this week, with an eye toward guiding the careers of up-and-coming performers, scribes, producers and directors, as well as producing original comedy material. Odenkirk, who has run Odenkirk Talent Management for nearly 12 years, reps Jenna Fischer (“The Office”), Jerry Minor (“Carpoolers”) and several “Saturday Night Live” stars, including Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Casey Wilson and Bobby Moynihan. Provissiero recently hung out his own management shingle after spending the previous decade as a TV lit agent. The former William Morris tenpercenter at one point repped half the writing staff of “The Office.” Since launching his company seven months ago, Provissiero’s clients have included Jared Stern (with Helena Heyman) and “Ugly Betty” co-exec producer Victor Nelli. “It’s a nice fit,” Odenkirk said. “He comes with all of these relationships and an eye for talent. I’ve been looking to partner with a peer, someone with years of experience under his belt, someone who could take my place in a meeting.” Odenkirk and Provissiero were first brought together by “The Office” exec producer Greg Daniels, who suggested that the two connect after Provissiero asked for advice on whom to partner up with. “Mark at one point represented all of the writers I love on ‘The Office,’ ” Daniels said. “It’s a good match. I’m looking forward to what fruit this will bear.” Despite their common involvement with scribes and stars on “The Office,” the reps had never met until a month or two ago, when a lunch was finally arranged. They wound up agreeing in principle to work together by the end of the meal. “As an agent I think I had distinguished myself as someone who enjoyed finding new voices instead of signing current ones — 95% of my clients I introduced to the town,” Provissiero said. “In meeting Naomi, that’s her comfort level as well. It’s a creatively satisfying approach.” The new shingle is based at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. Odenkirk and Provissiero are already looking at ways to start pairing her talent and his writers; they’re also looking to slowly expand their business.
