Exec's departure unrelated to Comcast deal

NBC U TV business affairs exec Rick Olshansky is out at the company.

Move, first reported by the Los Angeles Times, was confirmed late Wednesday by the network. Olshansky’s departure comes as much of his oversight has been taken over by NBC Entertainment/Universal Media Studios chairman Marc Graboff.

Graboff has resumed focusing more on business affairs-related issues at the conglom following the restructuring earlier this year that put Jeff Gaspin in charge of NBC Universal Entertainment as chairman.

Olshansky’s departure is not related to the impending Comcast takeover of NBC, expected to be announced Thursday.

NBC also confirmed that six staffers have been let go at the NBC Agency, which just underwent a restructuring of its own (Daily Variety, Nov. 29).

Last week, Peacock announced that it would merge the network’s on-air promotion and off-air advertising and digital teams into a single creative group under Jim Vescera; that resulted in pink slips.
