NBC U grants to head of class

Foundation gives $1.25 mil to nonprofits

The NBC Universal Foundation will direct $1.25 million in grants to 33 nonprofits in six cities across the U.S., in keeping with NBC U’s commitment to improve public education.

The funds will support secondary education in underserved communities by providing programs such as college test preparation, career counseling, employment skill development and theater workshops for 6th through 12th grade students.

The six cities to receive funds are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Miami and Washington, D.C.
