Investment banker joins film finance company
Veteran investment banker Daniel Gossels has joined film finance company Mesa as a managing director.
Gossels, the former Montgomery & Co. exec behind such initiatives as Club Penguin/the Walt Disney Co., will provide Mesa with mergers and acquisitions advice and capital raising expertise, specifically in the digital media sphere.
Gossels, who specializes in dealmaking for developing companies in the media and entertainment space, also spearheaded mergers and acquisitions initiatives between DailyCandy and Comcast; UGO and Hearst; plus iFilm and Viacom. While at Montgomery, he completed private placements for a number of companies including Realtime Worlds, WildTangent and Reactrix.
Gossels also was president and chief operating officer of Hypnotic, where he played a key role in building the company from a startup into a thriving digital media, film and television company.
In addition, the firm has upped Jonathan Levinson, Michael Josephs and Michael T.M. Jones to managing directors.
Formed in 2003, Mesa specializes in transactions in the media and entertainment industry and has three primary lines of business: middle market investment banking, film finance and early stage advisory. The L.A.- and Gotham-based company has a structured partnership with Management 360.
