Lifetime sets ‘Diva’ debut

Dramedy to premiere on July 12

Lifetime will premiere dramedy “Drop Dead Diva” on July 12, airing it in a Sunday primetime block with “Army Wives.”

Newcomer Brooke Elliott stars in “Diva,” about a superficial model who dies only to see her soul reemerge in the body of a plus-size attorney with smarts. Supporting cast includes Margaret Cho.

“Diva,” which will air at 9 p.m. Sundays, will lead into 10 p.m. airings of “Army Wives” for a 13-episode run. Series will feature guest appearances by Jorja Fox, Elliott Gould, Tim Gunn, Sharon Lawrence, Kathy Najimi, Rosie O’Donnell, Teri Polo and Chuck Woolery.

Josh Berman (“CSI”) is the creator and executive producer of “Diva,” from Sony Pictures TV. Alex Taub (“Eli Stone”) serves as exec producer and showrunner, with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron plus David Petraca (“Brothers and Sisters”) also exec producing.
