LONDON — Disney Channel topper John Hardie has been tapped as the chief executive officer of Jetix Europe.
Hardie, who will retain his London-based job of executive VP and managing director of Disney channels Europe, Middle East and Africa, takes over his new position immediately.
He succeeds Paul Taylor whose contribution to the children’s web was praised by Walt Disney International chairman Andy Bird, who chairs the supervisory board of Jetix Europe.
The changes follow Disney’s announcement in December that it intends to up its stake in Jetix Europe from 75% to 100%.
Last month, Jetix began a stock buyback scheme that will see it delist from the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange later this month.
Disney acquired its original stake in Jetix when it bought Fox Family Worldwide from News Corp in 2001.
