Indie banner taps new CEO
Indie film-TV banner Peace Arch Entertainment Group has promoted John Flock to CEO from president and chief operating officer.
In an announcement Tuesday, Flock noted that the move comes at a time when many rivals have scaled back their operations. “This retrenchment presents an extraordinary opportunity for Peace Arch to grow its core business of feature film and television distribution while we continue to look for strategic growth opportunities in ancillary businesses,” he added in a statement.
Flock also announced a plan aimed at making Peace Arch a leading indie film-TV company.
The plan foresees expansion of theatrical releasing operations in the U.S. and Canada; growing inhouse TV, digital and international distribution divisions; revamping DVD distribution operations; and taking advantage of the company’s Canadian status to provide quality, lower-cost TV programming.
Peace Arch announced in April that it had spun off its U.S. and Canadian DVD distribution arm to Phase 4 Films, an entity founded by Peace Arch homevid prexy Berry Meyerowitz.
Flock, who will remain based in Los Angeles, said the DVD operations will be smaller than what was spun off.
