Hammond leaves Variety for firm

Company veteran oversaw all marketing

Variety chief marketing officer Madelyn Hammond is returning to the marketing and branding firm she formed in 2006.

Hammond came back to the paper during a key transitional period that included a new publisher as well as an impending sale.

During Hammond’s tenure, she developed strategic relationships with brand marketers including Deloitte, Dell and Cunard. Additionally, Hammond oversaw all marketing, including the launch of Variety’s newest branding campaign, the Corner Office, which features key industry execs. She was also responsible for publicity, promotion, research and events, including the Variety Screening Series.

“Madelyn has done an exceptional job in strengthening the brand and building its role in the entertainment community,” said Variety prexy-publisher Neil Stiles. “We wish her well in her new venture.”

In addition to Variety, Hammond has held key marketing posts at Landmark Theaters, Sony, MGM/UA, Turner Pictures and the Coca-Cola Co.
