BET has named Essie Chambers as senior VP of original programming.
Chambers will oversee all aspects of development for the network’s reality and scripted series, as well as shows currently on the air.
Chambers arrives at BET from kid cabler Nickelodeon, where she was VP of original movies. She was in that position for only five months before coming to BET. Previously, she was VP of development for the N, an MTV network.
Washington, D.C.-based cabler caters to an African-American audience and is available in more than 98 million homes.
