Circle of Confusion has hired veteran exec Stephen Emery as exec VP of features.

Emery will be based in the Los Angeles offices and help oversee all current feature projects. He’s also responsible for generating and setting up new projects.

Emery broke into the business at CAA and worked at DreamWorks, Focus Features and Valhalla Motion Pictures before being tapped to run Bill Gerber’s company at Warner Bros.

He’s attached as a producer on “Great American Garage Sale,” with Stacey Harmon attached to write the screenplay; “Silverfish,” based on the graphic novel by David Lapham, with Joel Schumacher attached to direct; and “Home Before Daylight,” based on the book by Grateful Dead roadie Steve Parish.

Circle of Confusion’s feature projects include “Cryptozoo,” based on a screenplay by Joe Gazzam from the graphic novel of the same name, at Alcon, and “The Psycho,” based on the DC graphic novel, at Universal. Circle is producing, with the Wachowski siblings, “Shaolin Cowboy,” an animated feature written and directed by Geof Darrow, and is in post-production on “St. John of Las Vegas,” starring Steve Buscemi and Sarah Silverman and exec produced by Spike Lee.
