TV vet to receive org's Presidents Award

The American Society of Cinematographers has tapped Sol Negrin for its Presidents Award. Kudo will presented at the 24th annual ASC Awards event Feb. 27 at L.A.’s Century Plaza.

Sol Negrin has not only made an impact with his six-decade career as a cinematographer, but his constant efforts to organize industry events and teach the next generation of imagemakers their craft is selfless and without compare,” said ASC prez Michael Goi.

Negrin earned five Emmy nominations: three for “Kojak,” one for TV movie “The Last Tenant” and one for”Baker’s Dozen.” He also won four Clio awards. TV credits include “McCloud,” “The Lucie Arnaz Show,” “The White Shadow,” “St. Elsewhere,” “Rhoda,” and “Our Family Honor” as well as the telefilms “Best of Friends,” “Dempsey” and “Women at West Point.” Feature film credits include “The Concert for Bangladesh,” “Proof of the Man” and “Parades.”

He also contributed additional cinematography to “Superman,” “Coming to America,” “Jaws 2″ and “Robocop.”
