ABC News shuffles correspondents

President David Westin announces changes

ABC News prexy David Westin announced Thursday the reassignment of several correspondents and the addition of one journo formerly working for CNN.

Asia correspondent Stephanie Sy, previously stationed in Beijing, will be relocated to New York. Moscow correspondent Clarissa Ward will move to Beijing in Sy’s absence. And Alexander Marquardt, to be stationed in Moscow, will be one of eight ABC News digital reporters internationally stationed.

In 2008, Sy won an Overseas Press Club Award for her reporting on the Sichuan earthquake and an Emmy for her coverage of the global food crisis. She has covered political unrest in Pakistan, the 2005 London bombings and the Athens and Turin Olympics.

Ward joined ABC News in 2007 and has since reported from more than 10 countries, including Georgia during its war with Russia in 2008 and South Korea during North Korea’s rocket launch. Prior to working at ABC, Ward was a correspondent and field producer for Fox News Channel.

Marquardt joins ABC News after a stretch at CNN, where he covered the 2008 presidential election.

Announcements follow Wednesday’s expansion of ABC’s digital reporter corps to include domestic posts in both Denver and Detroit. Clayton Sandell, formerly a producer for “World News With Charles Gibson,” will be covering a climate and environment beat from the Denver post. Tahman Bradley, who covered the 2008 presidential campaign for ABC News, will report on the auto industry from Detroit.

Reporters Karen Travers and Matthew Jaffe are also rejoining the ABC News digital reporting corps. Travers will cover the White House while Jaffe will report on economic news from Washington.
