Rob Weisbach's clientele to span all media
NEW YORK — Rob Weisbach, a publishing vet whose last gig was heading up Harvey Weinstein’s book divisions at Miramax and the Weinstein Co., has hung out a management shingle.
He aims his new company, Rob Weisbach Creative Management, to be more than a conventional lit shop: He plans to build a client list across all media, including film and TV.
More than most publishing figures in Gotham, Weisbach has significant showbiz connections. In a 20-year career featuring posts at Bantam Doubleday Dell, William Morrow, Simon & Schuster, Miramax and TWC, he’s built up a roster of authors peppered with a lot of film and TV names along with novelists and nonfiction scribes.
Among the former group have been Jon Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, Ellen DeGeneres and helmers Tim Burton and Ethan Coen.
In addition to handling core clients, the new shingle will aim to serve those with other representation who need editorial consultation, media training or help with marketing.
“Satellite co-agents,” as he calls them, will join Weisbach, repping their own clients but also providing Weisbach clients with expertise in areas like dramatic and foreign rights, publicity or online marketing.
