Jesse Ventura to investigate controversial plots
TruTV has greenlit “Conspiracy Theory With Jesse Ventura,” putting the former Minnesota governor back in the spotlight.
Ventura, who entered politics as an independent and served from 1999-2003 after a career as a professional wrestler, will investigate controversial plots and schemes that have been circulating in the news for many years and have piqued the public’s interest.
Turner-owned cabler has ordered seven episodes, and the series, from A. Smith & Co. Prods., is set to premiere late this year. Arthur Smith, Kent Weed and Frank Sinton are exec producers.
In addition to picking up “Conspiracy Theory,” TruTV is putting two shows in development: “Full Throttle Saloon,” about a biker bar in Sturgis, S.D., and “Surprise Inspection,” which follows food inspectors who visit restaurants and other locales to make sure health standards are being met.
Both skeins are also from A. Smith & Co. Prods., producer of Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen.”
