Anchor gets own show on FBN
John Stossel is leaving ABC News and getting his own show on Fox Business Network.
“Stossel” will feature reports and discussions on libertarian issues. Hourlong program will launch before the end of the year but no regular timeslot has been determined.
In signing a multiyear deal, the former “20/20” anchor-reporter will also appear on Fox News Channel and host and produce a number of specials for the cabler.
Stossel has been at “20/20” since 1981 and was named anchor in 2003. He’s reported on political and cultural issues, including several series on how small business owners survive in America.
His libertarian viewpoints have often landed Stossel in hot water, including controversies surrounding the consequences of global warming.
Also, in 2007 Stossel wrote in the Wall Street Journal that a woman’s ill husband featured in Michael Moore’s film “Sicko” wouldn’t have been better off seeking treatment in Canada despite never speaking to her.
In a statement, ABC News said: “John has been an important part of the ABC News family for decades and we will miss him. He has engaged, and occasionally enraged, our audience with thought provoking opinions and analysis.”
