R.J. Cutler production focuses on inner beauty
Oxygen has greenlit an R.J. Cutler-produced reality show in which 10 divas compete to see who is the prettiest on the inside.
Series will feature 10 women blessed in the looks department but a bit shortchanged in terms of social graces.
Premiering at 10 p.m. March 31, “Pretty Wicked” will be the first series launched by the development team, headed by Amy Introcaso-Davis, that was put in place by the NBC Universal-owned cable network last year.
Oxygen has ordered eight one-hour episodes of “Pretty Wicked,” which is exec produced by Cutler (“30 Days,” “American High”) and Jonas Larsen (“Tabitha’s Salon Takeover,” “Celebrity Fit Club”).
Challenges will include the contestants being “made under” with horrible fashion and makeup choices, then set forth to meet a bunch of hot guys. The one who shows the most grace and poise over eight weeks gets $50,000.
The skein will be hosted by former “America’s Next Top Model” winner CariDee English, with comedian Kyle Cease, plus-sized model Mia Tyler and licensed psychotherapist Jenn Berman serving as judges.
“Wicked” is among a number of series in the Oxygen development hopper targeted to the women 18-34 demo, with premiere dates for “Dance Your Ass Off” and “Addicted to Beauty” pending.
