Was president of Davis Jr.'s Trans America

Shirley Rhodes, former president of Sammy Davis Jr.’s Trans America Media Corporation, died April 2 in Los Angeles.

Rhodes joined Davis’ entourage as his personal assistant in 1962.

She rose through the ranks to become president of his production entity, Trans America, and continued until his death in 1990, when she became the gatekeeper of his estate until her retirement in 1994.

When Rhodes joined the Davis team, she was married to longtime Davis arranger and conductor George Rhodes.

She is survived by a daughter, a sister and a brother.
