New company to produce 'Neighbors From Hell'
A group of former Film Roman execs have formed Bento Box Entertainment, an animation and live-action production company.
Bento Box has already signed on to produce the upcoming TBS animated series “Neighbors From Hell” for 20th Century Fox TV and DreamWorks.
Heading the new company are former Film Roman president-chief operating officer Scott Greenberg as well as vet “The Simpsons” producer Joel Kuwahara and longtime “King of the Hill” producer Mark McJimsey.
“Collaborating with the very best writers, directors, voice artists and content creators in the business, we plan to launch new and unique properties in this keenly competitive environment,” Greenberg said.
As the president of Film Roman, he oversaw the animation production company’s growth as it handled shows such as “The Simpsons,” “King of the Hill” and, most recently, “The Goode Family.”
McJimsey said he believed the trio’s experience in animation, visual effects and digital made them “a uniquely qualified colleague for our studio partners.”
Starz Media acquired Film Roman in 2006, but Greenberg stayed on, handling responsibilities at Starz Prods.
Kuwahara earned an Emmy nom for his work on “The Simpsons” and was animation line producer on “The Simpsons Movie.” He recently was digital producer on “The Goode Family.” Kuwahara will serve as a supervising producer on “Neighbors.”
Beyond “King of the Hill,” which earned McJimsey an Emmy, he also worked on “The Goode Family” and “Creature Comforts.”
“Neighbors From Hell,” which bows in mid-2010, centers on a family sent from Hell to Earth in order save the human race. Jeffrey Katzenberg, Pam Brady and Mireille Soria are exec producers.
