Burstein to produce nonscripted projects
RDF USA has sealed a deal with documentarian Nanette Burstein (“The Kid Stays in the Picture”) to develop and produce nonscripted projects.
Deal reunites Burstein with RDF Media USA chief exec Chris Coelen, who once served as one of her agents. RDF USA senior veep Lauren Gellert will work closely with Burstein in developing the series; Burstein, Gellert and Coelen will exec produce projects that come out of the partnership.
Burstein “earns the trust of her subjects, telling compelling stories with a unique sense of style,” Gellert said.
Burstein is currently attached to direct the feature “Going the Distance,” starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long.
Her credits also include “American Teen,” which won the 2008 Sundance Film Festival award for documentary directing. She was also behind the film “On the Ropes.”
In TV, Burstein produced IFC’s “Film School,” VH1’s “NY77” and AMC’s “Autobiography.”
Burstein said the relationship with RDF USA is “already off to a great start, developing original and unique ideas for the unscripted space.”
