ABC names research boss

Charles Kennedy will report to Peter Seymour

ABC has hired Charles Kennedy to serve as the network’s research chief.

At the Alphabet, Kennedy will oversee ratings analysis and forecasts, brand and program research and support for the net’s sales, marketing, syndication and affiliate teams.

Kennedy’s duties also include handling Disney’s Ad Lab, the company’s research facility that tracks audience behavior.

Exec reports to Peter Seymour, Disney Media Networks exec VP of research and strategy.

Kennedy moves to ABC from market research firm DYG, where he consulted with companies on product development, marketing and trends.

At DYG, Kennedy worked with companies including National Geographic, Saatchi & Saatchi, Mercedes, Toyota, Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson and JCPenney. He also worked with NBC, Fox and ABC.

Before that, Kennedy spent 12 years at Fox Broadcasting; he also spent time at Lorimar-Telepictures and Fries Entertainment.
