Yorn duets with Montone

Music manager joins production company

After splitting with one prominent music manager, Rick Yorn has joined forces with another.

Ian Montone has become Yorn’s partner in the management/production company that Yorn formed last year after leaving the Firm and parting company with Jeff Kwatinetz.

Montone, founder of Monotone Inc., manages music clients that include the White Stripes, the Shins, Vampire Weekend, the Raconteurs, Cold War Kids and Against Me! Montone previously was a partner at the law firm Davis Shapiro Lewit and Hayes.

Yorn has been steadily assembling manpower for the new company, which hasn’t yet been named. The company has a film production division that is run by former Firm Films head Julie Yorn. The Yorns made a first look deal at 20th Century Fox, hiring veteran Silver Pictures executive Erik Olsen.

Following Yorn to the new venture was Dave Baram, who had been president/COO of the Firm, and who co-founded the investment fun VMG Equity Partners and reps magician Criss Angel; Constance Schwartz, who manages Snoop Dogg and was architect of numerous merchandising deals for Firm-repped talent; and Jennifer Davisson Killoran, who worked closely with Yorn to rep Leonardo DiCaprio and who runs the actor’s Appian Way production shingle.

Yorn took with him a client list that includes DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, Benicio Del Toro, Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz and singer Pete Yorn, who’s his brother.

Kwatinetz, who resigned from the Firm after Yorn’s exit, is in the process of forming his own company.
