MusiCares’ old, new in tune with Young

Festival includes acts from Browne, Matthews

Neil Young’s contemporaries who came of age in the late ’60s/early ’70s — including Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Emmylou Harris, John Mellencamp and James Taylor — will join Dave Matthews, Wilco, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Josh Groban and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in an all-star tribute to Young at MusiCares’ Person of the Year festivities on Jan. 29. Grammy-winning producer Don Was will act as the evening’s musical director.

MusiCares is honoring Young for his artistic and philanthropic achievements during a key Grammy weekend event that will include a silent auction, gala dinner and tribute concert. The Grammys will be held Jan. 31.

Proceeds from the evening go toward MusiCares, which offers assistance to those in the music community in times of need. Past recipients include Tony Bennett, Phil Collins, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel and Elton John.
